I agree with Pat Harris Renewables are not the answer. We may save a few cents on biofuel but there are many costs that make it not worth it. Any food that has corn syrup the price goes up or the product gets smaller or both, food that uses corn like cereals or taco shells etc etc, price goes up. Then add in the huge government subsidies for the ethanol plants( oh yeah thats our money the ethanol plants are not going to pay it back .If you where to research all the money and the effect it has on food prices that goes into the making of ethanol it costs more to produce than its worth. A NET LOSS

Renewables are taking food from the mouths of people. Corn has reached such a price that poultry plants, hog producers, etc. cannot afford to produce. What do we do when we can't eat? Freeze, blister in the heat, and starve? Where is your common sense?

What was the reply that Charles Barton made to this question. I cannot find it. I always think the environmentalist jump on anything that might produce something of value if it will bother the bugs and useless weeds, most of their rants involve them getting more money from the coffers of the business people so they can support themselves on someone elses hard work.

Thanks so much for this post, Marc. Fracking will endanger the water supply of New York City, contaminating it with toxic chemicals -- a lot more serious than "a few dead fish". This underscores the need to get off the fossil fuel track -- even if it's natural gas -- and go full bore ahead on renewables.

So Mark, what you seem to be saying is that fracking means a few dead cows, a few dead fish, and maybe one or two dead people every now and then. Nothing really bad, like being spelled N U C L E A R.
