I'm an a/c repairman in Knoxville TN and some might say that in a fairly mild climate like what we have, it wouldn't be a good place for efficiency conscious users, but we spend a lot of time installing the most energy efficient systems there are because it's what people want. Finding a market that people want is the way you make money.

First, the cell-phone aphorism is plagiarized from Shai Agassi, so credit shoould be given when due
Second, the idea of quickcharge is a third rail. Think of twenty KWH flowing as direct current at a rate of 1KW minute through a cable. You need a very special cable for that, to say nothing of the safety hazard it represents if available right on the street. Its worse than a mid-tension wire live on the street. Wouldn't want to be the fireman who has to pull such a kid with a screw-driver in hand.
Third, though cheap, how do you charge a particular car for the electrons in pulls?
Fourth, range anxiety, how do you know a high-flow socl\ket is avilable at your destination?
Five, who will want to buy a car that's twice as expensive as another compact, being stuck with a ageing battery in five years time?
All of the above are solved by Agassi's holistic view of the EV system. Having thousands of the brightest working out each wrinkle in it. You need to come and see it in Israel, its seriously thought out, and executed.
