Judging by the refrigerator in my rental apartment, GE needs all the subsidy it can get. My brand new refrigerator – installed by the parsimonious building managers – has the energy performance of a 1950s icebox. It is astounding that such products are still made. It is only those who pass on the running costs to tenants who would even consider buying them.
