Thanks for the real picture about the biofuel story.I feelthese fuels are necessary to mitigate the global warming effect. Hence more funding is required and Banks should come forward to help.

Dear Mr. Gunther,
Thank you very much for your valuable insights about algae fuel industry. Our special thanks for your thoughts on Solazyme, our baby company. We achieved the scientific reality that we can make scalable renewable fuel from algae. With full dedication, we are now working on making it economically feasible. We will get there soon. Would love to connect with you in the future if you have any questions, and also join any event that you might suggest.

Mr. Gunther, I shared your post with our friends on Twitter. Would love to get their opinion on this article as well.

If anybody is interested in learning more about Solazyme , or ask the questions that you could not before hand, please find us on Twitter, http://twitter.com/solazyme, @Solazyme.

Dear Mr. Gunther

Thank you for the interesting story. I agree with the following statement of Aristides Patrinos:

“That’s in our view an ideal fuel because it doesn’t really compete for the same land where you can grow food,”

We have done it at our farm in India.

As an emerging renewable biofuel company, I would like to draw your attention to our emulsion technology which is perhaps one of the answers going forward. It is not only considerably cheaper to produce, there are no emissions and no by-products from the production process. A highly efficent yield with a lower carbon footprint. This "non fossil" biofuel is also providing significant GHG emissions reductions with no SO2 and a reduction in NOx of up to 60%. Targeted applications are staionary engines, combustion turbines and boilers. We are cost competitive with fuel oil today and are feedstock flexible, awaiting the Jatropha's and Algae's to reach commercialization.
