<description>While business argues for efficiency it is also hates the most efficient of price signals - taxes. This has driven policy makers to contrive byzantine
regulation that oozes political correctness: cap and trade. While the idea of a simple carbon tax made at source might be dead in the water, we should remember that it at least conforms to the Buffet idea that you should only buy things you fully understand. Capping is complex and politically risky (who decides how much?). And the international trade in carbon credits is, shall we say, somewhat open to abuse. Let’s hope our political correctness will not leave us pleading, cap in hand, for a climate bail out from the taxpayer.

		<description>Good morning Marc,
With questions about Warner-Lieberman beginning to show up in many blogs I read, I&#039;m glad to see that you&#039;re looking into it. Getting the conversation going on instruments like the &quot;Carbon Fed&quot; should be very useful and clarifying as we try to decide what&#039;s really so about this ho-hum bill.
