		<description>Let&#039;s not be too quick to tout the 75% decline of the U.S. energy intensity -- I&#039;m quite sure that if we were to dig into the numbers we&#039;d find that the exodus of manufacturing over the last two decades played the overwhelming role in that figure.

If we were to use a different measure, say &quot;embodied energy of all goods and services divided by GDP,&quot; which would account for the energy expended by other countries as they make our products before we import them, I think the number would be much, much different. 

On the other hand, it&#039;s great to hear about the veggie sausage and free-range egg!</description>
